Assumption School offers an academic program for students in Preschool through Grade 9 and we also welcome International Students in all grades. We follow the same provincial curriculum as all elementary schools across B.C. with the added benefit of being able to promote a Christian lifestyle to our students through our Christian Education studies. Our fully certified teachers maintain a strong commitment to the core provincial curriculum.
The Assumption School curriculum subjects are: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, French, Physical Education, Arts Education, Applied Skills, Christian Education, and electives for grades 6 through 9 students.
Grade 6-9 students have the opportunity to experience one elective per term. They are designed to give students the opportunity to explore a broad range of experiences. The electives are divided into Fine Arts and Applied Skills and are subject to change yearly. Some of our previous elective classes have included: Drama, Arts, Musical Theatre, Editorial Cartooning, Movie Making, Info Tech, Social Justice, and many others.
In addition, we offer a variety of sports and physical activity to all our students from Kindergarten through to Grade 9. Assumption school strives to set students up with the skills to be confident in making the right choices to be active and healthy throughout their entire lives, no matter the circumstance.
Assumption School provides a safe, loving and a well-rounded environment for all children that require after school care for busy parents, including those children from other schools. Students are cared for in a healthy, active, and social environment. Daily activities generally include library time, playing in the school gym, and lots of outdoor fun! We’re open Monday – Friday from 3:15pm-5:30pm. Cost is $10 per child per day with additional sibling discounts. For more information please contact the school office.
Assumption School is excited to also offer a Preschool program! Cynthia Spenst, with her early learning expertise and years of experience, heads the class. Our program has adopted a play based, child-centered developmental approach with a focus on social competency and school readiness. Morning programs are offered for 3 and 4 year olds from 9:00am-11:30am and space is limited.
Extra-curricular sports and activities include Volleyball, Basketball, Cross Country Running, and Track and Field. Extra-curricular activities are not just limited to sports. Students are also helped to prepare for community arts performances in speech arts and choir, as well as reading competitions for students in grades 5-7 and other activities that appear from time to time.
